Quality Manager

Role Summary

Leading the quality and compliance functions at APG, you will take responsibility for maintaining, developing and improving the company’s quality assurance standards. Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams to ensure right first time introduction of new products, positioning suppliers for success and safeguarding product quality levels to exceed customer expectations. Take ownership of the organisations QMS system, building cross functional relationships and promoting the benefits of our ISO9001 accreditation. Delivering NCR’s that have been thoroughly investigated and actioned to agreed plans. Use commercially aligned decision making, creativity, accuracy, problem solving and project management skills to work effectively across multiple planned and unplanned activities.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the quality assurance and compliance functions of the business, driving continuous improvement and promoting high levels of operational excellence
  • Take ownership of internal and external NCR’s, initiating root cause analysis, developing action plans and implementing changes in a timely manner to meet business priorities
  • Help develop a proactive culture and appreciation for a quality focused environment, advocating the value and benefits to stakeholders across the organisation
  • Work in harmony with a cross functional team to proactively managing risk when introducing new products, addressing issues, overseeing suppliers and delivering production targets with first-rate customer service
  • Develop and report meaningful monthly metrics along with insight to drive performance improvement
  • Mentor and develop members of the quality team to build the necessary capabilities and performance for continual improvement
  • Guide Engineering and Purchasing teams to ensure that suppliers and purchased components meet our regulatory needs and any certification is obtained for our records
  • Work in partnership with Engineering to ensure our products comply with the necessary regulatory standards and that the necessary documentation is created
  • Handle customer complaints and RMA’s for the SMARTtill® and Core products, identifying repeat issues and instigating preventative measures
  • Lead internal and external auditing processes of the QMS system in accordance with ISO9001
  • Other duties and administrative tasks which may arise, not referred to above which are appropriate to the level of the role

 

Desired Experience & Education

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in a senior quality role, preferably within a lean manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 and the QMS
  • Previous experience of managing a small team
  • Experience of Injection moulding and sheet metal desirable
  • Geometric dimensioning, tolerancing and measuring techniques
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Practical, hands-on capability
  • Ability to analyse information, highlight problems and propose solutions
  • Competence with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Hours: Full-time (39 hours per week)
